The Gables Hotel brings Master Chef to Gretna
The Gables Hotel are pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Wyper as their Head Chef. Kevin is a Master Chef of Great Britain, one of just over 300 in the UK .
Kevin has worked for several high profile chefs
Joe Queen at the The Hospitality Inn in Irvine.
Bill Costley at Highgrove House Troon. When Bill and Cath purchased the Lochgreen Hotel, Kevin assisted in the initial opening of this iconic hotel.
Martin Hunter at the Westpoint Hotel in East Kilbride where he also prepared food for the Point Grill(Bistro) Simpsons Restaurant (fine dining) and for functions ranging from business meetings to weddings.
Joe Queen approached Kevin again to work with him at the Earl of Moray Linlithgow and then the Houston House Hotel
The Hinds Head in Bray in the same village as The Fat Duck and the Waterside Inn. Heston now owns the Hinds Head. Where Kevin cooked for the likes of Michael Parkinson, Laurie Holoway, Marion Montgomery, and Sheila Ferguson who all lived in the village.
In May 1999 he purchased a tea room in Windermere and turned it into one of the best restaurants in Cumbria gaining 2 Rosettes from the AA and a Bib Gourmand. It was at the restaurant Kevin was awarded the title of Master Chef of Great Britain after being nominated by Joe Queen. The Restaurant was called Jambo.
In 2007 Kevin purchased a 10 bed roomed hotel in Grange over Sands offering Bistro Style food in the Bar, Fine Dining in the restaurant.
Kevin has now decided to return to where his heart is. Focusing on the delivery of great food using local and fresh produce.
